In July 2025, ahead of the Detroit mayoral election, the DRLA hosted an in-depth conversation with mayoral candidates to discuss visions, ideas, and priorities for supporting Detroit businesses. This event was held in conjunction with the Corktown Business Association, the Southwest Detroit Business Association, and the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association.

Detroit Women in Hospitality Leadership Chapter

The Detroit Women in Hospitality Leadership (WIHL) Chapter unites the women who power Detroit's hospitality scene through connection, education, and social responsibility. These regional networking events, including the annual statewide WIHL Conference, create opportunities to learn, mentor, and give back to the community. Full Plates Full Hearts
|
A holiday tradition for over seven years, Full Plates Full Hearts is an annual Thanksgiving event proudly led by DRLA members. Volunteers spend the day preparing and boxing homemade meals, which are distributed to community organizations in the Detroit area to serve local neighbors with home-cooked hospitality for the holidays. Each year, the DRLA and partnering businesses provide over 1,000 boxed meals to people in need for the Thanksgiving season.

The DRLA sets sail! Each summer, members of the Detroit Restaurant & Lodging Association are invited to an exclusive experience on Lake Saint Clair, featuring a sailing lesson from experts followed by an all-hands-on-deck race with fellow members!
